Texture-grafikernes rolle bliver tit undervurderet, når man taler om gode og flotte baner. Derfor har Cold Ice nu bragt lidt lys på manden bag Counter-Strikes textures.
Livet som texture-grafiker er ofte meget utaknemlig. Når folk tænker på den fede bane de spillede i går, er det altid level designeren, der får æren. Derfor har Cold Ice valgt at bringe fokus på manden bag mange af Counter-Strikes textures i et interview med MacMan.


I dette fortæller han blandt andet om hvor lang tid det tager at lave en texture fra grunden:

It totally depends on the texture. A stone wall could take an hour or less if
I’ve got photo-ref. Specific textures of objects that I don’t have photoref
will take considerable longer however. For example, for this mod that I
worked on a while back, I wanted to make four walls that had dirty pipes
running down them. The walls would all tile. So I actually built and textured
all of the walls in full 3D, then rendered them. Then I used the renderings
just like photoref. Worked nicely, but took probably 6 hours to do the four
textures.
