Kerbuffel og V3N0M har haft gang i en meningsudveksling af rang på Captured.com. Debatten raser over, om Team Arena er godt eller dårligt. Begge synes at have gode og velfunderede argumenter.
Kerbuffel er bestemt ikke glad for den retning Quake 3 vil tage med Team Arena. V3N0M derimod, synes det er et skridt i den rigtige retning. Begge har hver deres gode pointer i den interessante debat.


De nye power-ups skaber “camper-spil”

kerbuffel er meget direkte i sin kritik af de nye power-ups i Team Arena:


The way Team Arena handles permanent powerups adds nothing to teamplay, just giving an edge to the player who spawns closest to it. Having the powerups spawn in the same location every time will cause people to camp the respawn spots for them, instead of defending 0the base. Also, giving each team their own set of powerups takes away a very valuable strategy. Controlling the powerups is a tactic that when done correctly can really hurt the enemy offense and turn around a game.

Kerbuffel fortsætter med den manglede “weapon / power-up – drop” – funktion:

Actually, message board posts from id employees confirm that id doesn’t intend to allow powerup dropping. No more sharing the health powerup with your defense so that don’t have to leave the base to juice up. And does Quake 3 even support Ammo or Weapon dropping? id is focusing more on individual accomplishments then being a team player. 100 points for capturing is ludicrious, and there isn’t an equally outrageous scoring bonus for defending or protecting the flag carrier.

V3N0Ms løsning er simpel: begå selvmord med \kill kommandoen og vupti – en team mate kan nu snuppe din power-up.


Ikke lige den mest elegante løsning, men hvis id ikke finder på noget andet, er det vel den eneste måde.
