It’s 3-screen mayhem for TOCA Race Driver as PC gamers get the action in Matrox Surround Gaming.
When Codemasters launches the PC edition of TOCA Race Driver early next year, players will see the circuit and cars ahead and to the sides thanks to its use of Matrox Surround Gaming, which enables the gameplay to be viewed across three linked monitors.
Providing a dramatic sensation of actually being inside the car, the central monitor displays the camera view of the track ahead. The monitors to the left and the right show the camera views from either side of the car, enabling players to see which rival racers are closing in on their position. In a race replay, the display provides an ultra-wide field of view across all 3-screens..
Says Gavin Raeburn, Codemasters’ producer of the TOCA series:
“With the Surround Gaming three-screen display on PC, TOCA Race Driver’s players will be really immersed in the experience and able to use their peripheral vision to judge the best position on the circuit. It’s a great effect and makes the racing even more intense.”
TOCA Race Driver, already a massive number one smash hit for PlayStation 2, is being enhanced for PC and will be released early in 2003 by Codemasters.
