How many clients can watch one game and how much bandwidth is needed?

Actually there is no limit. In a LAN, that supports Multicast, you need one proxy and everybody can watch. The traffic for the entire LAN won’t be more then 10KB/sec then. Unfortunately not many routers in LANs and even less on the internet are configured for Multicast, but this will change. However you canmake a chain of an infinite number of proxies, while the number of viewers per proxy will only be limited by it’s bandwidth. You need about 3-5 KB/sec per viewer.

Does it work for ‘plain’ HL and TFC ?

It should work for all MODs, but for optimal camera views, MODs must provide some extra information about important events.

What is being done, that the Multicast tool won’t be used as another cheat?

Games are broadcasted with a delay. The delay can be set to almost anything. The minimum is 8 seconds, the standard is 30 seconds and there is no upper limit, except that you need about 2MB of ram per minute.

When will the tool be released? How big will it be and will it be free?

It’s gonna be about one and a half more months until the release. The proxy will be part of a HL point release. Maybe Mod makers will have to adjust their code to get the best camera positions and map views. It will be free and very small, since it doesn’t need many new graphics.
