Airborne: Liberation to make its console debut
Fast Action Gaming from Normandy to Hitler’s Germany
Irvine, California, June 23, 2003 – Interplay Entertainment Corp. (OTCBB:IPLY) and BattleBorne Entertainment today announced their collaboration on the development and distribution of Airborne: LiberationTM, a fast-paced, third person action combat game set in the battlefields of World War II.
Airborne: Liberation transports the player to the European theater of operations during World War II as allied airborne forces prepare for the invasion of Hitler’s “Fortress Europe” on June 6, 1944. Assuming the role of Pvt Patrick Harper, the player will be dropped into Normandy in the pre-dawn hours of the D-Day invasion to fight his way through war-torn Europe from the D-Day, to Market Garden, the siege of Bastogne, and the final assault into Hitler’s Germany. The player can choose to fight as a member of the 101st “Screaming Eagles” Division, the 82nd Airborne or the British Red Devils. Every attempt will be made to keep Airborne: Liberation as historically accurate as possible while still maintaining fun game play.
“We’re really excited about Airborne: Liberation and look forward to combining efforts with BattleBorne to bring this history-based gameplay experience to consumers,” states Jim Molitor, Vice President of Product Development for Interplay.
James Kosta, President of BattleBorne Entertainment adds, “We are very pleased to be working with Interplay. They have a great history of bringing epic stories to life and we believe that they will do the same for Airborne: Liberation.”
Utilizing both individual player and squad based combat, Airborne: Liberation will offer the player highly detailed environments, high quality special effect visuals and sound effects, as well as authentic uniforms, weapons and vehicles and environments. Two-player coop allows a player to fight side-by-side with a friend on the same screen.
Airborne: Liberation is set to release on the 60th anniversary of D-Day in June 2004 on current generation consoles.
