    Just updated my page with the new version of my Conrete cfg. It allows you to mix in any amount of grey in the walls with r_gamma, and is compatible with your config. (Just execute mine when your map is loaded.)

    It also lets the crosshairs and skins be super-visible, by using neon colors. F.ex crosshairs could be neon green, enemies neon blue, and armors neon red. There’s instructions in the README how to choose the 3 neon colors.

    Now, neon skins is nothing new but I think my config is super-visible without having to have smoothwalls or fuzzy picmip. (But of course if you want that, then mine is compatible with yours, it just changes the wall color on every map to grey instead of pink-grey on dm6 and yellow on ztn.) So you can have grey walls with a great-looking detailed config, or with an ugly fps-optimized one.

    The screenshots don’t show you how cement gray it actually is, ‘cos the overbright settings make the screenshots darker. However, combine shots 4 and 5 to get a rough idea.

    It also has 3 extra modes: exec my cfg, then
    F7 = Smoothwalls with extra grey walls
    F8 = “Psychedlicious” freakly walls
    F9 = Quake 1 emulator I play with this hehe

    And press F10 in either mode to get as good visibility as is possible without OSP (i.e. for RA3 / Vanilla compatibility).

    Anyway, take a look and say what you think? Follow the readme. If you don’t get grey walls, but bright or dark instead, download the full version.

    This is just a visibility config, so if you’re looking for smart weaponscripts and fps tweaking then download my Smooth or Lean cfg.

    jo ikke fordi Q3 skal se pænt ud…. grafikken er sq næsten ligemeget… det skal bare være smooth, nemt at se og simpelt.

    ligner mit nuværende Q3… sådan ser mit cirka ud, men de andre fra min klan kan ikke lide det. Hver har vel sin egen foretrukne gfx mode i Q3. Jeg foretrækker at have et mørkt map, med lyse skins på. Giver en god kontrast imellem map og folk. Mange vælger dog at have det hele lyst….

    sikkert fint i osp.. men i fx ra3 er picmip totalt umuligt at spille med, hvis den er for høj… rockets er jo bare ét stort fedt pixel.. fatter man intet af

    helt sikkert..

    nubilamah, choose one of the four modes in Concrete-Cmds.zip. There’s one with picmip 0 (max detail), 2 with picmip 2, and 1 with picmip 16 (super smooth).

    Then press F10 to make it ra3-compatible.

    Choose Quake 1 mode (F9), then tweak with:

    r_picmip 5
    r_texturemode gl_linear_mipmap_linear
    r_mapoverbrightbits 3
    r_gamma 2.1

    guess I should add it as an extra mode, coz it’s kinda nice

    I love the cfg but I have some problems. I can run the cfg fine if i run q3 in a window, but when i run it in fullscreen it becomes very wierd to look at.

    I have tried to vid_restart many times in fullscree, but that does not seem to help at all, my os is win2k wich may have something to do with the problem…

    anyone knows what I can do to solve this ?

    det er desværre ikke grunden.
    Der er virkelig ingen forskel i cfg’en fra windowed til fullscreen, udover at det ser forfærdeligt grumset og grimt ud i fullscreen.

    Which of the 4 modes do you get it in? If its in the Quake 1 mode it _should look_ grainy, Q1 style. If its in the Smoothwalls mode it might be that you’re using a 16-bit (hi-color) mode instead of a 32-bit (truecolor) mode. But I have 32-bit commands in the latest Concrete-Cmds.zip

    If it’s in the default mode then try lowering the gamma to 2.1 or even lower. You can also try increasing r_mapoverbrightbits 1 step at a time, but for each step, the walls become more colorful, i.e. less grey.

    If this helps, tell me what it was. If it doesn’t, plz describe more closely what it looks like, which mode it is and what graphics card you use?

    it was the color depth…in windowed it would just be the windows default, so no problems, but in full i had set it to 16, and it would get really ugly.
    I just figured that the depth had no real influence, but obvíously i was wrong =)

    It only happened because i cpoy/pasted the stuff I thought i needed into my own cfg and excecuted that…so my bad, and thx again =)
