her er mailen.
EUROPE LEADING THE WAY IN PRO GAMING
1:23 PM by IN.TillerMaNI think the progress in the past year with regards to Warcraft III and pro gaming in Europe has been quite amazing.
As far as I’m concerned, Europe is now the center of professional gaming with a plavery solid foundation of clans that have been built up over a number of years. Some of you may shout “but Korea is bigger”, but this is not the case in my opinion. The reason being that they only concentrate on one game – Starcraft or Warcraft whereas the European community embraces every competitive game in their multi gaming clans!
Every big European Clan has squads for various games including – Counter Strike, Unreal Tournament 2003, Warcraft III, Castle Wolfenstien, Quake and even Fifa Squads.
The fact that they are multi-gaming squads and generally very well organized encourages big sponsors to back them. And this is exactly what has happened in Europe with big corporations such as Intel giving squads six figure sums in cash sponsorship. With this kind of sponsorship floating around it is only a matter of time before “real” professional gaming takes off with some clans offering their players wages in the near future.
All clans in Europe currently offer their players (generally) :-
1. Free Flights to all Major Lan events.
2. Free Accomodation at Lan events.
3. Free Food at Lan events.
4. Free Hardware.
5. Free Clan Wear(t-shirts etc)The countries leading the way in Pro gaming are in my opinion – Germany, France, Sweden and the United Kingdom pretty much in that order.
Germany has many big gaming clans as well as being the host for many of the important community web sites.
France has some big gaming clans but more importantly has organized or attempted to organize a majority of the big lan tournaments in Europe.
Sweden has always been a center of gaming in Europe with their fine internet infrastructure and many talented players.
The United Kingdom although a late starter has recently started making very good head way with big sponsors supporting their clans as well as a host of important community web sites.
Let’s look at the most famous Clans in Europe from a Warcraft III perspective. Be rest assured however that some of them are even more famous for being huge in other games such as Counter Strike and Unreal Tournament.

Country of Origin : Sweden.
Clan Tag: bmfYou can see from this list that some American players like Assassin and Gentho have resorted to joining European Clans rather than face going to events unsponsored which can be very expensive. This is quite sad for the USA to be in such a poor position in the gaming world compared to Europe.
All these teams compete with some others in the Warcraft 3 Champions League which is now on its third season. Check it out as there are matches between all these top clans every week with all the replays being available for download.
For more excellent coverage of the Warcraft 3 Champions League check out Schroets Coverage. You will need to quickly sign up for a login to get it but it is worthwhile.
