NEJ!!
Dræbte David alle Engineers? NEJ!
I don’t think David created the Xenos. The wreck on LV-423 had a fossilized engineer, that takes over a thousand years to occur. Said Engineer had its chest burst as well, which presumably killed it, but that wouldn’t kill David or any android due to their important bits being in their head and even then, no facehuggers would attach themselves to an android due to being able to sense synthetics. Plus, timeline wise, Covenant is set 20 years prior to the original.
The space jockey in Alien was said to have been ‘fossilized’ and ancient. Yet the cargo hold of its ship is filled with thousands of xenomorph eggs. How could David have created the xenomorph if they’d already existed for thousands of years?
Furthermore, how is it David created the xenomorphs when their entire life cycle is depicted on the temple in Prometheus?
I think David was attempting to replicate what he saw on the Engineer Ship he and Shaw were on, for Prometheus showed murals presenting the xenomorphs, even a Queen.
And, considering the Predator species may be in this universe as well as the Xenomorphs, Engineers, and Humans (if you ever have time, read Prometheus: Fire and Stone. Fantastic graphic novel), they’ve been shown to have hunted that species before.
David saw a creature that, unlike him (even if his emotions are simulated, they are far more real than any a Xeno could hypothetically express), was perfect: biomechanical, silicone-based (avoid the frailties of carbon-based life forms and imitations of them such as synthetics), adaptable in even the most hostile of environments, and if in a hive, working together akin to the limbs of a body and not two individuals. He was flawed and wished to be more, to create something his own creators could not.
Another thing: I don’t think those humanoids being bombed are Engineers. They may be another race entirely, perhaps more genetically similar to the Engineers than Humans or even the early products of an experiment similar to the one seen in Prometheus. I base this on a few observations:
They were marveling and excited at the presence of the ship. If this was the Homeworld or these were normal engineers, why would they be? Wouldn’t it rather be directed to a landing pad or station, and wouldn’t the Engineers themselves be in their suits?
The deceased corpses were of a similar height of the incoming colonists aka humans. As seen in Prometheus and Alien, the true Engineers are Giants. Intelligent, strong, and capable. If they were the ones being bombed, wouldn’t they have countermeasures due to being experienced in the effects of the Goo itself?
Their habitat was noticeably…rural if you will. No mass amounts of tech akin to what we see in the ships of Prometheus nor any capability to seemingly protect themselves from bombardment. They all just ran, confused and unable to grasp what was happening and how they could survive it.
David, mistaking them for the true Engineers, bombarded this colony of humanoids. Doing this out of hate of the species derived from what he underwent in Prometheus. Later, when the craft crashed, he likely realized his mistake and used the remnants of goo he had, to start his experiments.
And, one last thing: the Neomorphs are the white ones, the protomorph aka a supposed “ancestor” to the Xenos we know and love, was the one born from the facehuggers he managed to create. Which was able to be detached from a face as well, showing hints that it was a less evolved facehugger than what we traditionally saw. David was able to replicate an earlier ancestor to the Xenos and may, in a future series, perhaps create a perfect copy, but he didn’t create the Xenos. They themselves seem to have their DNA in the Black Goo, perhaps being made by the Engineers to be ground-up into the weapon?
I hypothesized on the Alien subreddit that this entire prequel series is leading up to explain just how Weyland-Yutani knows about the Xenos and why they pursue them. This itself is based on the simple fact that Ash was purposely put on the Nostromo to acquire the creature or a sample. http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Special_Order_937
Those should explain Ash’s purpose. He wasn’t just there nor did he receive his orders wirelessly, he was sent their alongside the crew of the Nostromo to acquire the Xeno. The company learned of them from David.
“The Engineers had made aliens beforehand but they were imperfect and not powerful. David’s whole point was to create a more powerful/perfect alien in his own image.”
